The Last Werewolf

I chose to do the novel “The Last Werewolf”, as its strong thematic coding caught my attention immediately when I first saw it. The front of the cover is very minimalist, with just the three moon phases and text on a plain black cover, like a night sky. The serif font made me think of classic werewolf stories, and having all the text italicized dramatizes it.

The moon symbols are gold foil, so they glint and catch light. These also tie into the book’s content organization, as different sections of the book are separated by moon phases. Perhaps most eye-catching, the pages are all edged in burgundy, evoking danger, drama, and blood. Everything on the jacket emphasizes the werewolf theme, but makes its statement in a straightforward and simplified way that is aesthetically pleasing.
