Virgil Abloh “The-Ten”

Virgil Abloh’s “The-Ten” for Nike is one of the most influential and iconic projects by this designer, and ever.

“The-Ten” is Virgils take on ten of Nikes most iconic Sneaker silhouettes, including the Blazer, Air Jordan I, Air Max 90, Air Presto, Air VaporMax, Converse Chuck Taylor, Air Force 1, React Hyperdunk, Air Max 97, and Zoom Vaporfly. Each of which having a new, more contemporary twist, including the infamous “Quotation marks” on the shoes detailing things like the “AIR” or “85” on the Jordans since that was the year they came out. Helvetica is the font of choice for the type. The shoes also detail the red tag that comes with almost all Off-White products, as well as a large price tags. These sneakers resell anywhere from $500 to $4000 depending on the shoe. These pieces symbolize societies transition to a post modern, or urban take on footwear, as well as design as a whole, taking Form just as far as it takes function, but still leading with function.
