The Chameleon

“The Chameleon” is an imposter-in-the-group board game. The box cover has a green-yellow checkerboard that allows for a “disappearing text” optical illusion depending on how you’re looking at it. I love this design largely for the thematic aspect, but also because I think it’s able to stand on its own without knowing the game. When I was first handed the box, I thought it was blank, and all that seemingly empty space on a board game cover seems odd and adds interest. The green and yellow are upbeat and fun, and its simplicity makes it appealing. When I realized later that there was text I didn’t see, it caught me by surprise in a good way. I thought it was a very clever and eye-catching design that, ironically, helps it stand out on a shelf.
