Genshin Impact
Entering the game of Genshin Impact, you will find yourself surrounded by fairytale-like features with eurocentric views and settings. However, as the game progresses, the focus will also shift to an Eastern Asia feature that is as beautiful as the eurocentric feature presented at the beginning of the game. The colors displayed throughout the game are bright and engaging. Engagement is a key feature in this game as the players are allowed to climb trees and most importantly, interact with the environment with their character’s element. If a character is Cyro (ice), when their skills meet water, the water would freeze. Or when a character that is Pyro (fire), their skills would set the grass on fire. The lighting is also amazing shown in the pictures provided. The designers considered the shadow and highlights based on the position of the sun and moon during day and night. The gradients and the choice of colors for the sunset is one of the best parts of the game as it imitates a real-life view of a sunset which visually appealed to many audiences.
Navigating through the world of Genshin impact has been designed to be convenient and easy to follow. On the top left-hand corner, you will find a circular map with a lowered opacity to avoid too much distraction from the gameplay. The map shows your current location with a blue indicator. As you turn your character, the map will also follow you and show the view of the direction you are looking at. When you open the map, you will notice there are many empty spots for you to fill in. This is to encourage players to explore the world to unlock different parts of the location in this game. The expanded map allows you to pinpoint a location you would like to go. The pinpointed location will show up on your screen so that a player would not have to constantly open the map to check their position and direction. As you move towards the location, a small text would appear and inform you of the exact distance you are away from your destination.
