a world of many worlds…

This particular print is one I got from a book store a couple of years ago. It seems to be an ad from around the 1950s. This ad had a purpose, which was to sell a subscription to this magazine, LIFE. I really love this ad (enough to buy the print) for many reasons. For one, the use of different planets to represent different parts of life (like work, friends, family, etc.) is really creative and draws the viewer in. It seems like it has the use of ethos, especially in the sense of aesthetics. The “many worlds” give me a bit of a sense of surrealism, especially with the fading color use in the background. One thing that I think is odd about this design is that it uses the typeface Sans Serif in its bigger text, but it uses serifs in the typeface below. Overall, I think this is a great ad as the color and use of surrealism with contrasting typefaces draw in the viewer. I use it as decor in my room!
