I am an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology, here at North Carolina State University. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and to working together this semester.

I grew up and lived in Connecticut up until I moved to North Carolina in 2005. While I miss the charm and quaintness of New England, I do not miss the cold winters! I graduated from Clemson University with my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a minor in Spanish. I am an avid Clemson fan (GO TIGERS!). After Clemson, I returned to Connecticut where I completed my graduate work in educational psychology and educational technology.

My research interests are tied in with distance education and the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning practices. I am also very interested in Web 2.0 technologies and studying how they can be utilized to enhance learning. I also enjoy working with my students to explore how technology can be used to enhance teaching and learning practices as well.

Hello! I am a graduate Teaching and Research Assistant in the Instructional Technology program. I’m über excited to begin this semester and this course. Since August 2009,  I have been one of the Directors of Education at the Sylvan Learning Center in Cary. Prior to this, I was a middle school math, music, and technology teacher at Carolina Friends Middle School in Durham, NC. I also did my undergraduate degree at NC State in middle grades education.

My research interests include Web 2.0 tools in education, critical theory, transformative education, critical pedagogy, emerging technologies and learning/teaching, methodology and pedagogy of teaching with technology, epistemology of technology, teaching, and learning, study abroad experiences and social media technologies and adolescent development. Thank goodness we keep learning throughout our lives!
